Art & culture
Culture is well established in Kristinehamn. Pablo Picasso understood this when he chose the spot for one of his biggest monumental sculptures. It is located at the entrance to the Vålösundet bay, a part of Lake Vänern that is regarded by many as being one of Kristinehamn’s most beautiful places.
"We made a detour to the Picasso Sculpture. Kristinehamn was totally unknown to all four of us. The car ride from the town centre out to the sculpture was wonderful. What a fantastic bay in Lake Vänern, with many lovely residential areas"!
Another popular place for visitors is Kristinehamn’s konstmuseum(Kristinehamn's Art Museum). This museum of art revolves around temporary exhibitions and presents a wide variety of artwork based on modern and contemporary
art. The museum also has a café and shop, as well as organising activities for children.
Make sure you don’t miss the old-fashioned general store Ölme Diversehandel and its cosy café, close to the artists’ quarter Vågen.
